The jazz duo line-up is tenor saxophone and seven string guitar. This combination is ideal for any occasion that is looking for light background music of jazz standards from the 40’s to the present, including bossa nova, samba and funky grooves.

Downtown jazz duo provides excellent music and presentation, an aural and visual experience, setting the mood for your venue. The duo consists of:

JASON DICKIE (guitar): A professional and experienced jazz, funk and latin music performer who has been working in Melbourne jazz clubs and bars for over ten years. He has performed in Rio de Janeiro and studied bossa and samba with some of the worlds leading performers. His worldly music experience brings excitement to his sound and performance presentation. Jason has played with numerous jazz musicians from Melbourne and Sydney and has recorded CD’s with various jazz and funk ensembles.

CHRIS PAPPAS (Tenor Sax/ percussion): Another experienced performer who currently leads his own jazz quartet and original funk band. He has performed with Marcia Hines on Hey Hey its Saturday, Nina Ferro, Julie O’Hara and various other jazz/funk and latin jazz bands in Melbourne and Sydney. Chris has released two jazz/funk albums and has performed at Bennetts Lane jazz club, Dizzy’s(In the Dizzy’s Big Band), Manchester Lane jazz club, The Night Cat, The Paris Cat jazz club, The Kitten Club….

Sofa Nova performs the beautiful bossa nova songs of Brazil. The bossa nova rhythm (arising from a hybrid of Brazilian samba and American jazz) was invented on Rio’s south side in the late ‘50s by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Joao Donato. Sofa Nova perform the sensuous, seductive, swaying rhythms and smooth vocals of this music, giving the band a mod sound suited to the mid-1960’s aesthetic. For any occasion, Sofa Nova can create a sublime atmosphere, providing an unforgettable aural and visual experience.

I cannot believed that with only 20 hours notice you have been able to put together the spread that you provided today. Our staff have returned from and important annual event marvelling over the food that your provided to our Department Site function.

Our venue co-ordinator said that your staff could not have been friendlier or more obliging. I am certainly happy to hear the reports coming from our General Manager and Program Manager who noted that the food was superb, the produce fresh and delicious, the variety and quantity was plenty. (There was enough for us to provide food for the poor overworked Spiegel tent crews).

I was particularly impressed by the waitress you provided on the day who was able to work efficiently behind the scenes of our education event without disturbing our presentations. I have been in some of the best quality conference centres and not seen service to this level. It was brilliant to have such a high standard in our workplace. World of Food will take all reasonable steps to protect the personal information it holds from misuse, loss, unauthorised modification and disclosure.

Terms and Conditions
Bookings
A 30% deposit of the quoted price is required to confirm your booking unless a client has an existing account.
The deposit is non-refundable if the function is cancelled 72 hours of the function.
Confirmation of numbers
Please provide confirmation of numbers 72 hours prior to the function. If numbers reduce by 10% of original quoted amount, World of Food reserves the right to re quote the event.
Confirmation of orders
Please note that faxed or e-mailed order is not confirmed until a member of World of Food confirms the order via phone or e-mail.
Cancellation
To provide all customers a competitively priced catering service, it is necessary to enforce a fee of 30% of the quoted price of a function when notice of cancellation is less than 72 hours.
Full staff charges may apply if staff is cancelled within 48 hours of the function.
Payment
Payment can be made by;
−Cheque payable to World of Food
−Direct Debit – Please call the office on 03 9504 3714 to obtain bank details
−Cash on delivery
−Visa, MasterCard or Amex (4% - 5% fee applies)
Final accounts must be settled within 7 days upon receipt of final invoice.
Pricing
All prices are correct at time of printing and are quoted on current costs. These may vary at any time due to seasonal or supplier shortages and according to CPI increases. Prices quoted are exclusive of GST.
Staffing
Staffing hours quoted is estimated hours only and will vary according to the requirements on the day of the function. Final hours will be billed following the function.
Staff hours billed may include travel to the event site depending on the distance. This will be discussed with the customer.
Delivery
World of Food delivery fees are available on application.
Beverages
All prices quoted on a consumption basis are estimates only and will vary for each function. Beverages charged on a consumption basis will be billed following the function.
Fixed price beverage packages will be quoted according to the duration of the function. In the event an extension of time is required for the function, additional charges will apply on a pro-rata basis. If the function concluded earlier than expected, no refund will be applicable for fixed price beverage packages.
Hire & Equipment
The client is responsible for all hire equipment arranged for a function, including all breakages and loss of equipment. Any lost or broken equipment will be charged at replacement cost.
